About

Oliver Rauer is a freelance photographer and artist from Newcastle upon Tyne
in the northeast of England.
Originally from the north of Germany, Oliver emigrated to Great Britain in the mid 90's. He discovered a talent and ultimately a passion for photography early on in his life, and despite having no formal training as a photographer he was determined to pursue his passion on a more professional basis. Since then he has come a long way and interest in his unique, atmospheric style of photography continues to grow.
In the past Oliver has photographed the likes of HIGH ON FIRE, THE USED and DAVID COVERDALE as well as British folk legends such as RAB NOAKES and ALLAN TAYLOR. He has also done work for magazines and local companies. Oliver is a member of Alamy, has published four books and now spends a lot of his time in the south of France, documenting the French way of life.

I paint with shades and shadows, textures and structures and moods and emotions. I'm obsessed with these things. I generally don't have a lot of time for colour. Colour distracts me. I see the world in black and white. I look at a sunny day in spring and I see its dark and sinister side and that's what my work is all about - the darker side of photography ..."
